Emily Anderson, 49, of Lenoir, North Carolina, was reported missing on December 29, 2005. Her body was found January 7, 2006, concealed in a truck bed toolbox in Duncan, South Carolina. Investigators discovered her husband, Jerry Anderson, had taken out more than $4 million in life insurance policies on her.

Witnesses said Jerry and Emily went into the woods behind their farm on the day she disappeared and that they later heard gunshots. Jerry Anderson was charged with first-degree murder on January 27, 2006, and prosecutors sought the death penalty. His 2007 trial ended in a hung jury; 11 of 12 jurors favored acquittal and the state later dropped the first-degree murder charge.

Jerry Anderson filed a civil suit against the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office seeking over $100,000 for malicious prosecution, false arrest, and fabrication of evidence, citing witnesses who claimed to have seen Emily alive after her disappearance and alleging contaminated evidence and ignored leads. The case remains contested in the community and within the Anderson family.

Does anyone have information about Emily’s last known movements or the witnesses who reported seeing her after December 29, 2005?
