Kenneth Godfrey, 29, was one of three men killed in a mass shooting at the Shelby III Bookstore in Shelby, North Carolina, on January 17, 1987. The bookstore catered to a gay clientele; two other men were seriously injured that night. Investigators examined several possible motives early on, including a mafia hit, a business dispute, and a crime of passion, but attention later turned to Frazier Glenn Miller Jr., leader of the White Patriot Party.
Miller implicated two followers, Douglas Lawrence Sheets and Robert Eugene Jackson, and Sheets and Jackson were indicted in November 1987. Sheets went to trial in 1989 and was acquitted; charges against Jackson were dropped. The case remains officially unsolved.
Who has information about Kenneth Godfrey, the Shelby III Bookstore, or that night in January 1987?
