Jordan Lee Flanigan was a 24-year-old father from Elyria, Ohio, remembered for a smile that could light up a room. He was killed in a shooting outside the Midview Crossings Apartments on Middle Avenue on the evening of October 27, 2022. Officers arrived after a 911 call reporting shots fired and found Flanigan lying in the grass with gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene within ten minutes despite officers’ efforts to render aid.
About the same time, 21-year-old Henry Spooner IV arrived at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center with gunshot wounds. Investigators linked the two incidents. A blue Jeep Cherokee seen leaving the apartment complex later led police on a pursuit; the vehicle crashed and two men, 19 and 21, fled but were captured after a short foot chase. A Lorain County grand jury indicted Spooner on multiple charges, including murder and felonious assault, and he was arrested in February 2023. Spooner pleaded not guilty and claimed self-defense.
What details about that night or those who were at Midview Crossings could help clarify what happened?
