Jodie Arbuckle, 47, of Springfield, Ohio, was one of two people found dead after a July 24, 2022, shooting and fire at a mobile home in Harmony Township, near South Charleston. The other deceased was identified as 27-year-old Cole White of South Charleston. Clark County Sheriff’s Deputy Matthew Yates was shot while responding to a reported break-in at the mobile home; he was wounded and later died at a hospital.

Responding officers encountered gunfire when they entered the mobile home. Family members of Cole White have said he is suspected of shooting Arbuckle, identified by authorities as his mother, and of shooting Deputy Yates. The Ohio Attorney General’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the State Fire Marshal’s Office are both involved; the fire that destroyed the mobile home is under investigation. Cole White had prior legal issues, including a felony case for improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle, and had been indicted on two counts related to this incident; a warrant was issued after he skipped a pre-trial hearing.

The investigation into Arbuckle’s and White’s deaths and the shooting of Deputy Yates remains ongoing. Did anyone in the area see activity at the mobile home on or before July 24, 2022?
