Craig L. Blackshear, 45, was shot and killed on July 7, 2022, on the porch of a home in the 1800 block of Fourth Street NW in Canton, Ohio. He was found with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso and legs and later pronounced dead at Aultman Hospital. A candlelight vigil was held by family and community members on July 11, 2022.

Investigators allege the shooter was a 15-year-old boy and that Megan R. Coladonato, 36, from Canton and East Sparta instigated an argument that led to the shooting and assisted the juvenile. Both were arrested about a week after the killing; the teen was charged with murder and Coladonato was charged with complicity to murder. Coladonato later pleaded guilty in February 2023 to two felony counts of obstructing justice and tampering with evidence and received an 18-month prison sentence.

The juvenile’s case remains pending with a motion to bind him over to common pleas court filed and a ruling expected. If anyone has information about the shooting, contact the Canton Police Detective Bureau.
