Jennifer Morgan, 49, of Bucyrus, Ohio, died on May 18, 2022, after suffering a gunshot wound to the head at her home on W. Mansfield Street. She worked as the home care coordinator for the Crawford County Council on Aging. Her husband, Anthony J. Morgan, 52, was present when the shooting occurred; the preliminary investigation states he recklessly discharged his firearm, striking Jennifer.

Emergency responders treated Jennifer at the scene and transported her to Avita Health System–Bucyrus Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Anthony Morgan was arrested and charged with reckless homicide, a third-degree felony, and his bond was set at $250,000 at arraignment. Friends and family spoke in court about their grief and called for justice.

The Crawford County Prosecutor’s Office and the Bucyrus Police Department led the investigation with assistance from the Ohio Attorney General’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation and county coroners. Anyone with information about the case is asked to come forward.
