Sean Robert Rex, 47, of Canton, Ohio, was shot in the head and died in his kitchen on May 2, 2022. A Stark County Coroner’s Office investigator pronounced him dead at the scene. Rex worked as a tattoo artist, was married to his wife Kristi for nine years, and was the father of four children. He also ran a rehab out of his home to help friends struggling with addiction.
The investigation led to arrests: 19-year-old Darcell Lamont Anthony Jr. of Canton was charged with murder and was located by federal agents with the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force less than 24 hours after the shooting. Eighteen-year-old Justice D. St. John of Canton was also charged; he pleaded guilty to being an accomplice and cooperated with prosecutors for a reduced sentence. A 17-year-old, Steffon Love, was indicted on charges related to the shooting. Police have not released an official motive, though investigators believe the incident was an attempted robbery.
