Tramell M. Childs, 46, was found with a gunshot wound to his neck on the kitchen floor of his Canton home in the 1000 block of Third Street NW on April 20, 2022. Paramedics transported him to Aultman Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The incident happened about 10:19 a.m., and police were summoned shortly afterward.

Childs was born June 4, 1975, in Cleveland and was described as outgoing and helpful. He played music with Frank Boyd’s Blues Ministry and Peace and was remembered by family and friends for his involvement in the local music scene. Two teenagers from Canton, ages 17 and 15, were arrested and charged in connection with his death; charges were initially filed as juvenile counts and were later elevated, with one youth classified as a serious youthful offender.
