Brett T. Lewis, 22, of Fremont, Ohio, died from an accidental shooting on March 18, 2022. The shooting took place in the early morning at a residence on Sycamore Street; a 911 caller reported the incident and officers found Brett with a gunshot wound. He died at the scene despite medical attention. Authorities believe alcohol played a role, and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is assisting the Fremont Police Department as they work to reconstruct the sequence of events. No arrests or suspects have been identified in connection with the death.

Brett was a 2018 graduate of Fremont Ross High School and worked for J.B. Hunt. He is survived by his wife, Elicia Lewis; their children, Dominick and Linkin Lewis; his father, Trahan Lewis; and other family members. The community remains affected by his loss.
