Michael Richard Mudrick, 51, of Elyria, Ohio, died on October 28, 2022, from injuries sustained in a gunshot to the neck on August 7, 2021. The shooting happened at his Cleveland Street home where he lived with his girlfriend, Deanna Hembree. Hembree initially said the rifle had fallen and discharged while they were in bed, but investigators later found inconsistencies in that account.

Deanna Hembree, 41, was charged in connection with Mudrick’s death; a grand jury returned murder indictments and court proceedings followed. Mudrick’s family described him as someone who loved the outdoors and is survived by a daughter and other relatives who mourn his loss.

If anyone knew Michael, saw him that summer of 2021, or has information about what happened at the Cleveland Street residence, please share what is known.
