Jeffrey Robert Hutchins was 24 and from Amelia, Ohio when he was shot and killed on November 22, 2019, at the On the Green at Royal Oaks apartment complex in Pierce Township. He and a friend, 20-year-old Nicholas Hudson, were both shot shortly before midnight.

Court documents say Walker told investigators he had been selling marijuana to the victims, heard someone in the car claim they were going to rob him, retrieved a handgun and kept it in his pocket, then let the victims into the apartment where an argument and a struggle occurred before the shooting. Walker’s defense reportedly says he did not intend to shoot Hutchins and that his finger was on the trigger during the struggle. Walker was held on a $1 million bond and faced a preliminary hearing in Clermont County court.
