Jessica Baker was 17 and a senior at Clearview High School when she was killed on October 17, 2019, in Lorain, Ohio. She was active in choir, basketball, volleyball and softball, enjoyed babysitting, crafting and the beach, and cared for pet dogs. Family members say she was looking forward to becoming an aunt.
The death followed a violent confrontation. Jessica was a passenger in a vehicle driven by her boyfriend, Christian Marshall. Marshall and another man, Savion McCall, drove to the home of Lucas Williams armed with a handgun after a fight earlier that day between McCall and Williams. During an exchange of gunfire, a bullet fired by Williams struck Jessica in the back, killing her instantly. Marshall fled, dropped McCall off, then called 911; officers found Jessica dead inside the vehicle.
The Lorain Police Department, assisted by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s Cyber Crimes Unit, investigated the shooting. Attorneys with the Ohio Attorney General’s Special Prosecutions Section handled the prosecution. If anyone knew Jessica or has information about what led up to that night, please come forward.
