Thomas Littler, 63, was shot to death and found on February 4, 2019, at his home on Bowman Lane in Chillicothe, Ohio. His fiancée, Leann Potts, 46, and her brother, Rick Adams, 50, were also killed; the three victims were discovered in separate locations within a five-mile radius, suggesting a coordinated attack.
Investigators arrested James Rinehart of Londonderry the day after the killings after he tried to use Potts’s credit card at a Burger King. Surveillance footage and DNA evidence tied him to the scenes. He was charged with three counts of aggravated murder and one count of attempted murder; he later entered a plea deal to avoid the death penalty and received a 35-years-to-life sentence. Reports say Rinehart had a prior connection to the victims and had been trusted by them, including having been lent money.
Did anyone in the community know of disputes or threats involving the victims or Rinehart that might explain the motive?
