Jaylen Brock was 14 when he died of a gunshot wound at his home in Fremont, Ohio, on September 17, 2017. Born May 14, 2003, in Staten Island, he was a student at Fremont Middle School and a member of the Triumph Foundation, remembered as well-liked by peers and teachers.

The gun reportedly failed to fire the first time; on a second pull of the trigger it discharged, striking Jaylen in the chest. Elijah was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter and other juvenile counts; the prosecutor sought to have him tried as an adult and a judge ordered mental and background evaluations.
