Hannah Hazel Gilley was 20 and from Piketon, Ohio when she was killed in her home on April 22, 2016. Her death was one of eight in a series of shootings that targeted members of the Rhoden family; the attacks together are often referred to as the Pike County shootings. Hannah was engaged to Clarence Frankie Rhoden and the couple had a young son, Ruger Lee Rhoden, who was not harmed.
The killings drew national attention and involved multiple law enforcement agencies. Reports indicate the attacks were part of a planned effort tied to custody disputes involving the Rhoden children. The case remains one of Ohio’s largest murder cases and has had prolonged legal proceedings that continue to affect the families and community.
