Kenneth Wayne Rhoden, 44, of Piketon, Ohio, was killed on April 22, 2016, as one of eight members of the extended Rhoden family murdered in the Pike County shootings. The killings were carried out at four separate locations and have been described as execution-style. Kenneth’s body was found with dollar bills scattered around it.
The extended Rhoden family had been involved in activities including raising fighting roosters, breeding dogs, and salvaging cars for sale. A comprehensive investigation into the attacks led to the arrest and charging of four members of the Wagner family: George Billy Wagner III, Angela Wagner, Edward Jake Wagner, and Rita Newcomb. Those defendants were later convicted and received lengthy prison terms, including life sentences for some.
What details about Kenneth’s life or movements before April 22, 2016, might help explain why he and the other family members were targeted?
