Justin D. McHenry, 22, of Celina, Ohio, died of a gunshot wound on November 29, 2015, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima after a confrontation with an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper.

The Mercer County Grand Jury reviewed the case and declined to indict trooper Brandon Chaney, finding the shooting justified because McHenry posed an imminent threat. Chaney was subsequently returned to duty. McHenry had prior run‑ins with law enforcement, including OVI charges in 2012 and a September 7, 2014 OVI charge to which he pleaded no contest.
