Nathan McGlone, 45, of Chillicothe, Ohio, was shot in the face during an apparent domestic dispute at a home in the 700 block of Jefferson Avenue on August 2, 2015, and died at Grant Medical Center in Columbus on August 7, 2015. The shooting occurred after McGlone and Lori Wilson returned to the house from a platonic trip to the beach; James Wilson, 59, who lived at the residence, asked McGlone to leave and a struggle for Wilson’s 9 mm handgun ensued. The gun discharged and McGlone was critically wounded.

James Wilson was arrested immediately and initially charged with attempted murder, felonious assault, and domestic violence. Prosecutors moved to file a murder charge and the case was set for grand jury consideration. Before trial, Wilson pleaded guilty to reckless homicide, a third-degree felony, and received an 18-month prison sentence. McGlone’s family described him as a generous father who enjoyed restoring cars and riding his Harley Davidson; he also saved three lives through organ donation.
