Roderick L. Blackburn Jr. was 25 when he was shot and killed on June 5, 2015, while sitting in his car in the Napoleon’s Place parking lot on Germantown Pike in Jefferson Township, Ohio. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office led the investigation.

The scene and its aftermath were chaotic. Police recovered a black Monte Carlo believed to be involved, and two people were detained for questioning, though it was not established whether they were connected to Blackburn’s murder. A vigil held for Blackburn days later turned violent when gunfire at the event wounded Clinton Cutrary, a family member. Blackburn had also been shot and left for dead in an alley in 2008, a prior attack investigators considered while working the case.

No arrests have been announced and the homicide remains unsolved. If anyone knew Blackburn, his movements that day, or has information about the Monte Carlo or those involved, please come forward.
