Charles Michael Mike Butler disappeared in the spring of 1990 from his home on Bly Mountain near Bonanza, Oregon. He was last seen in May 1990 and was not reported to the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office until August of that year. At the time he was 45, about 6 feet tall, 160 pounds, with black hair and green eyes.

The remote location of his residence and the delay in reporting appear in the case file as factors that limited early attention. The investigation remained active but produced few substantial leads, and the case went cold. Law enforcement has kept the file open and appealed for tips over the years, while online communities and cold case researchers have renewed interest in the disappearance.
