Phillip E. Johnson, 34, of Canton, Ohio, was shot and died after being taken to Alliance Hospital following a 911 call on May 23, 2015. The shooting occurred at his home on Freshley Avenue NE; reports say he was shot in the head.

Authorities charged 22-year-old Troy Michael Schory of Alliance with murder in connection with Johnson’s death. Sheriff’s deputies and Alliance police located Schory at a residence on Elmside Street in Alliance; he barricaded himself there before being taken into custody without incident.
