William Tyrone Sawyer, 25, was found dead on April 14, 2014, on the Great Miami River Recreational Trail near Ninth Avenue and Maple Street in Middletown, Ohio. His body was discovered about 8:40 a.m.; police declared the death a homicide after finding a large amount of blood at the scene. Sawyer’s family reported he had been shot, though the exact circumstances remain unclear.

Family members described Sawyer as quiet, not involved in major disputes, and without known enemies. His father last saw him late Saturday night before Sawyer left the house; a passerby found the body the next morning. Middletown police have not released information about suspects or a motive and have asked the public for tips.
