Curtis W. Francis, a 34-year-old white male, was shot to death on December 9, 2006, in Piketon, Ohio. He and his fiancée, Jennifer Burgette, were both killed while they slept in their Hopper Road home in what investigators call the Hopper Road double murder. The Pike County Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation have examined the case multiple times, but no arrests have been announced and the investigation is now listed as a cold case.
Curtis was remembered as kind-hearted and fond of family, animals, music, hunting, and fishing. He had recently had shoulder replacement surgery and was taking pain medication, which investigators noted might have made him a target. Authorities believe more than one person witnessed the killings, that the gunman likely knew the couple, and that the same person may be linked to at least one other homicide.
Anyone with memories of Curtis, Jennifer, or information about the Hopper Road double murder is asked to come forward.
