Brent Eric Anderson, 37, of Wapakoneta, Ohio, died on September 2, 2001, after being shot multiple times at his home. He was a former attorney from Celina and was married to Kimberly Anderson. Kimberly, 38 at the time, was charged with aggravated murder, murder, and voluntary manslaughter in connection with Brent’s death, but a jury acquitted her of all charges at a criminal trial in October 2002.
Following the acquittal, Brent’s family filed a civil lawsuit against Kimberly seeking monetary damages and what they described as vindication. The lawsuit alleged Kimberly intentionally shot Brent, causing severe physical pain and mental anguish, and sought special, compensatory, and punitive damages on behalf of Brent’s children and other relatives. The family’s attorney maintained the criminal verdict reflected sympathy for Kimberly as a mother of four rather than the facts.
Are there readers who remember reporting or details from the trial or the subsequent civil case that could shed more light on the evidence presented?
