Jerry E. Anderson, 44, of McDonald, Pennsylvania, was shot and killed on May 25, 2022, at his home on Loffert Road in Smith Township during the violent end of a long-running neighbor dispute. Anderson was cutting grass on his riding lawnmower when neighbor Bryce Kevin Tacy Sr. confronted him. Police and court accounts say Tacy produced a legally registered firearm, fired while Anderson was on the mower, then approached and fired additional shots. Witnesses saw Anderson slumped over on the mower; emergency responders could not immediately reach him while Tacy retreated into his house and a SWAT standoff unfolded. Tacy later called 911 and reportedly threatened suicide by cop; he surrendered several hours later and was charged with criminal homicide.

Anderson was remembered as a hard worker and a devoted father who worked as a plumber for Cowden Plumbing and coached youth baseball and football. Friends said he tried to avoid conflict despite concerns about Tacy, whom police described as increasingly suspicious and paranoid about neighbors. The court process advanced after Tacy waived a preliminary hearing in June 2022. If anyone knew Jerry, his family, or the neighborhood dynamics leading up to that day, please share what might help explain how this dispute escalated.
