On January 24, 2019, 62-year-old Dean Beachy of Millersburg, Ohio, was shot and killed at P.J. Harrigan’s Bar and Grill in State College, Pennsylvania. He and his 19-year-old son Steven were in town to attend a horse auction; Dean was a well-known auctioneer. Both were seated at the bar when a 21-year-old man, identified as Jordan Witmer of Benner Township, walked over, produced a handgun and opened fire.

Dean was shot in the head and died at the scene. Steven was shot in the torso and died the next day. A 21-year-old woman, Nicole Abrino, was also critically injured. After the restaurant shooting, the gunman fled, crashed his vehicle, and then forced entry into a nearby home where an 83-year-old homeowner, George McCormick, was shot and killed; McCormick’s wife hid and was able to call for help. The motive remains unclear and authorities reported no known prior connection between the shooter and the Beachy family.

If anyone knew Dean Beachy, his work as an auctioneer, or was in the area that night and can provide information, please come forward.
