Armand Fennell was 17 when he was shot dead on the night of July 7, 2018, on Glendale Road in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania. He had been attending a large party of 40 to 50 people and was an Upper Darby High School student who would have been entering his senior year; he also volunteered at the office of state Representative Margo Davidson. The fatal wound was a shot to the back as he ran from an attempted robbery outside the gathering.

Initial witness reluctance slowed the investigation, but tips to police and appeals from Fennell’s family and township officials produced information that led investigators to identify a suspect. Police arrested 21-year-old Deshawn Cannon of Upper Darby after he was taken into custody on an unrelated Philadelphia handgun charge; investigators say Cannon had been released from prison less than 24 hours before the shooting and later confessed to involvement after transfer to Upper Darby.

Anyone who knew Armand, attended the party that night, or has information about the shooting is asked to come forward.
