Robert Edward Bobby Kramer Jr. was 22 and from Westland near Hickory, Pennsylvania, when he was killed during a family gathering on Sunday, April 17, 2016, in the Westland area of Mount Pleasant Township, Washington County. A backyard picnic on Meadow Street turned violent after an hours-long argument between Kramer and his cousin, 28-year-old Joshua Moss, reportedly over a set of car keys. Relatives said alcohol was involved.
According to investigators, Moss first went after Kramer with a knife before family members separated them. Moss then allegedly retrieved a shotgun and a single shot struck Kramer in the chest, with some reports saying the neck and chest were involved. Emergency responders were called, but Kramer was declared fatally wounded at the scene; the county coroner listed the cause of death as a gunshot wound.
Police arrested Moss at the scene and charged him with homicide; later court records included a firearms-related charge. At a later hearing Moss pleaded guilty to third-degree murder and a firearms violation. Kramer was remembered as a Fort Cherry High School graduate, a laborer, a father to a young daughter, and a son and brother.
Did anyone at the gathering or in the neighborhood see the argument escalate before the stabbing and shooting?
