A family dispute that began months earlier at Christmas ended in a fatal shooting during a Labor Day weekend gathering in Bristol Township. On August 31, 2014, 59-year-old Jorge Rodriguez of Trenton was shot inside the living room of a Fayette Drive home by 64-year-old William Rivera, Rodriguez’s brother-in-law. Rivera’s wife and their 7-year-old son were in the house when the shooting occurred. Police found Rodriguez deceased at the scene in a pool of blood.
Rivera was taken into custody after the shooting. The confrontation was reported to have stemmed from an earlier disagreement at Christmas. Rivera later pleaded guilty to third-degree homicide, possession of an instrument of crime, and two counts of recklessly endangering another person, and received a prison sentence of 10 to 32 years for the killing of his brother-in-law.
Did anyone attend that family gathering or know the history between these families and the incident at Christmas?
