Michael Kite, 41, a former Philadelphia firefighter, was shot once in the head in December 1984 and later found dead in May 1985 in Ridley Township, Delaware County. His remains were wrapped in chains and left in a creek.
Prosecutors tried Lines for first-degree murder in Bucks County in 1986. Lines denied knowing Kite and denied killing him, but during jury deliberations he escaped from the courthouse while free on $50,000 cash bail. The jury convicted him in absentia; he was captured on December 21, 1986, and after years of legal proceedings he was ultimately sentenced to life imprisonment in 1991. Two other Philadelphia men, Robert Bell and Richard Lee Gray, pleaded guilty to murder and were awaiting sentencing while Lines’ trial was underway.
Does anyone have information about Kite’s movements in December 1984 or about the Bensalem apartment mentioned in the case?
