Victor Argente Rosenbloom was 20 when he died in Minneapolis on March 3, 2011. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner ruled his death a homicide, finding it to be a direct result of a gunshot wound he sustained nearly five years earlier.
In 2006, at age 16, Rosenbloom was struck in the neck by gunfire while walking with his girlfriend in South Minneapolis. He survived but was left paralyzed, required a respirator, and relied on a head-controlled wheelchair and voice-recognition computer. He needed constant assistance for moving, feeding, and bathing for the next four and a half years before complications from the injury led to his death.
Frankie Tyson was arrested for the 2006 shooting, convicted in June 2007 of first-degree aggravated assault, and sentenced to 100 months in prison. At the time of Rosenbloom’s death Tyson remained incarcerated; prosecutors reviewed whether to bring new charges, including murder, but ultimately did not file additional charges. No further arrests were made.
If anyone knew Victor or has information about the 2006 shooting and its long-term consequences, please share what you remember.
