Philip M. Glass, 31, was fatally shot in Elizabethton, Tennessee in the early morning hours of December 1, 2022. Authorities responding to reports of noise and gunshots near Oakmont Drive and Milligan Highway found a two-vehicle crash; Glass was inside a Honda Accord and had been shot.
Investigators identified two persons of interest, 23-year-old Cody A. Miller and 20-year-old Kimberly Nicole Thomas, and later a second suspect, 24-year-old Brandon Lee Blackwell of Hampton. Thomas was questioned and released. Miller and Blackwell were arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Court filings say the motive appeared to be a personal conflict: Miller was reportedly upset that Glass was dating his ex-girlfriend. Affidavits allege both Miller and Blackwell bragged about shooting Glass; one described Miller boasting about where he shot Glass and how it was “cool.” Shell casings from two different calibers, a .380 and a 9mm, were recovered and a judge found probable cause to bind Miller and Blackwell over to the grand jury on first-degree murder charges.
Did anyone in the Elizabethton area witness the encounter that led to the shooting or have information about the vehicles involved?
