Nicholas Patterson, 34, was working an early morning shift at the Twice Daily on Stonecrest Boulevard in Smyrna, Tennessee, on August 30, 2022, when an armed man entered shortly before 3:00 AM and demanded money. The assailant opened fire; Patterson was taken to a nearby hospital but died of his injuries. Patterson had worked at the convenience store for nine years and was remembered as a friendly longtime employee.

Investigators from the Smyrna Police Department, Brentwood Police, Metro Nashville Police and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation linked the Smyrna shooting to robberies in Brentwood and Nashville that occurred within a three-day span. Keanthony Martize Williams, who was on parole at the time for a prior extortion and witness-coercion conviction, was identified as a suspect and charged in connection with Patterson’s death, facing first-degree murder and attempted aggravated robbery counts. Williams was later convicted in 2024 of the Nashville and Brentwood robberies and received a 26-year sentence; his Rutherford County murder case remained pending with court dates and a mental health evaluation noted.

A second person, Kathryn Taylor, was also arrested and charged as a co-defendant in the murder and attempted robbery of Patterson. Does anyone who knew Nick or who was near Stonecrest Boulevard that night have information that could help clarify what happened?
