A violent late-afternoon confrontation on Cavalier Drive in Hendersonville, Tennessee, ended with two women dead. Laura Undis, 60, was in the front yard when an argument with her former boyfriend, 72-year-old Lloyd T. Martin Jr., escalated.

A neighbor, 67-year-old Virginia Deirdre Sheen, intervened and was also shot. Both Undis and Sheen were taken to a local hospital and succumbed to their injuries. Bystanders detained Martin until Hendersonville police arrived; he was taken into custody and later charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of aggravated assault. Testimony at a preliminary hearing included a witness account from Sheen’s husband and testimony that Martin confessed; the case was bound over to a grand jury.
