On the evening of July 15, 2022, 33-year-old Erresse King Jr. was inside Harb’s Market on Burnside Street in Knoxville, Tennessee, when a man entered and opened fire. King was struck, taken to the UT Medical Center, and pronounced dead. The shooter fled before law enforcement arrived.
Knoxville Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit identified 36-year-old Christopher David Price of Knoxville as a suspect and obtained a warrant charging him with first-degree murder. Authorities warned he should be considered armed and dangerous and might be driving a black 2017 Mercedes Benz S550 with a California license plate.
Price was later located and barricaded inside a residence. A standoff with law enforcement ended when Price died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, bringing the search to a fatal close and ending the manhunt in King’s homicide.
