A known dispute between two men in Elizabethton turned fatal in the summer of 2022. Anthony Dwayne Guy, 32, was shot in the chest in the 1000 block of Oak Street and died from his injuries on July 7, 2022. Emergency services took him to Sycamore Shoals Hospital, where he later succumbed.

Police say the men were acquainted; Guy was dating the sister of 27-year-old Ryan D. Williams of Bluff City. Authorities allege the argument escalated after Guy slapped Williams and that Williams then shot Guy with a handgun. Williams was arrested at the scene, questioned, charged with first-degree murder and booked into the Carter County Jail. The case is proceeding through the legal system.

Guy was remembered by family as kind and caring and is survived by two sons and a daughter. Does anyone have information about the events on Oak Street that night?
