Poutha Peter Souphom, 52, was found fatally shot while on his riding lawnmower in the yard of his Sims Road home in Shelbyville, Tennessee, on the evening of Sunday, October 10, 2021. Family members returning from errands around 11:00 PM discovered him; he had been mowing earlier that dusk. Souphom was described as a farmer and a devoted husband and father who largely kept to himself and focused on work and family.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Bedford County Sheriff’s Department opened a homicide investigation. As of late 2022 the case remained active: no arrests or publicly identified suspects had been announced, a reward was being offered, and authorities asked the public for information. The motive for the killing has not been established.

If anyone knew Souphom, saw activity on Sims Road that evening, or has information that could help the investigation, please come forward.
