A fatal argument over a dog and a couch ended in Clarksville, Tennessee, five days after Austin Lee Moss, 24, moved there with his fiancée, Jessica Harris, and her daughter. Moss, who had relocated from Texas, was staying with Harris’s sister Kristen Haynes and her husband, Army Sgt. Scott Alan Haynes Jr. On the night of November 20, 2020, a dispute about the dog urinating on the couch escalated. Testimony says Haynes went to retrieve a gun and, as he came back up the stairs, fired a shot that struck and killed Moss; the bullet narrowly missed Harris, who was standing nearby.

Haynes was arrested the next day and initially charged with homicide. He later told investigators he had been drinking and claimed self-defense. An autopsy showed Moss had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.213 percent. The victim was survived by his parents and a young son.

Does anyone have information about Moss’s time in Clarksville or about that household in November 2020?
