Jeremiah Coleman, 34, was found dead from at least one gunshot wound inside a third-floor room at the Days Inn on Asheville Highway in Knoxville on the evening of Monday, October 26, 2020. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Originally from Detroit, Coleman’s death was ruled a homicide and the Knoxville Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit took over the investigation. Investigators describe the shooting as targeted rather than random and say evidence at the motel suggests multiple people were involved. Several persons of interest have been identified but no arrests have been announced.

Anyone with information about what happened that night is asked to contact the KPD Homicide Unit or East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers.
