On October 25, 2020, shortly before 1:30 a.m., 49-year-old Robert Pearlie Brandon was found shot and dead at a business in the 100 block of Smith Street in Newbern, Tennessee. Newbern police and Dyer County deputies discovered Brandon deceased when they responded to reports of a shooting.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation joined the Newbern Police Department and Dyer County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation. Authorities identified Terence Jamal Robinson as the person responsible and issued a warrant charging him with one count of First Degree Murder. Robinson was located and taken into custody in Nashville on November 3, 2020, and was booked into the Dyer County Jail on the murder charge.
