On September 18, 2020, William L. Scott, 38, was shot and killed at a construction site on Appling Road in Cordova, Tennessee. Scott was serving as a supervisor when an argument with a construction worker, Marcus D. Williams, escalated. Investigators say Williams left the site and returned armed; Scott told him firearms were not allowed, then Williams allegedly began shooting. Scott tried to flee but collapsed and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Marcus D. Williams, 27 at the time, fled the scene but was located and arrested at his Raleigh-area home soon afterward. He was initially charged with multiple felonies including first-degree murder, reckless endangerment, and being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun. In October 2021 a Shelby County Grand Jury indicted Williams on first-degree murder and convicted felon in possession of a firearm involving a crime of violence; he was held in the Shelby County Jail following the indictment.

If anyone worked on that Appling Road crew or remembers the incident, what details about the confrontation could help clarify what happened?
