A Fourth of July gathering on Seminole Avenue in Knoxville, Tennessee, ended in lethal violence when 35-year-old Bobby Davis was shot during an argument. The shooting occurred on the evening of July 4, 2020; Davis was taken by a private vehicle to UT Medical Center and was initially reported in stable condition but died in hospital several days later. Authorities examined whether his death resulted directly from the gunshot wounds or from subsequent complications.

Police identified 28-year-old Brandon Jamal McCaleb as the shooter and arrested him at a North Knoxville apartment complex with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Smoky Mountains Fugitive Task Force. Initially charged with aggravated assault, McCaleb was later convicted of first-degree murder and in April 2022 was sentenced to life in prison. Reports from the case say McCaleb was upset by people throwing fireworks at the party, went inside a residence, retrieved a gun, and shot Davis; he was on parole at the time with prior convictions including attempted second-degree murder.

Did anyone at that Seminole Avenue gathering see what sparked the argument or the moments leading up to the shooting?
