On June 27, 2020, around 2:00 a.m., 26-year-old Jamarcus Cortez JuJu Esmon was found on Edgewood Boulevard in Franklin, Tennessee, with multiple gunshot wounds. Franklin Police officers arrived after reports of gunfire and performed life-saving measures, but Esmon died at the scene. His death was the city’s only homicide that year.
The Franklin Police Department conducted a lengthy investigation into Esmon’s killing. In March 2022, investigators arrested two people. Kiontez Waters, 23, was identified as the shooter and was indicted by a Williamson County Grand Jury for first-degree murder, aggravated assault resulting in death, and unlawful possession of a firearm; bond was set at $100,000. Stephanie Holt, 32, was indicted for aiding Waters after the murder; her bond was set at $10,000.
Waters was arrested at a Spring Hill gas station and Holt at her Columbia home. The arrests were coordinated with Metro Nashville and Columbia police, and detectives personally informed Esmon’s family. Did anyone in the Franklin area see or hear anything near Edgewood Boulevard that night?
