Corie Jay Williams, 37, was shot to death on May 28, 2020, at the Lawrence Landing Apartments in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. Born June 21, 1982, in Trenton, New Jersey, he had moved to Lawrenceburg to be nearer his mother. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and being near the water, and was described as a compassionate father who mentored local youth, including teaching life lessons and basketball.

Williams was one of two men killed in the incident; the other victim was 28-year-old Benjamin A. Cunningham. The Lawrenceburg Police Department investigated the double homicide. Sabastian Arzadon, 23 at the time, was arrested and later pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree murder and received a sentence of Life Without the Possibility of Parole, plus a concurrent Life With the Possibility of Parole. A second person, 27-year-old Reneisha L. Wiley, was also reported to be facing charges in connection with the killings.
