On April 27, 2020, deputies responded to a home on McClanahan Road Southeast near Highway 64 outside Cleveland, Tennessee, and found Ramon Davila Tercero, 37, unresponsive with a gunshot wound. Paramedics were unable to revive him and the scene was treated as a death investigation.
The homeowner, David A. King of Cleveland, initially told deputies he had shot a man he believed was trying to break into his car. Investigators then learned Tercero had previously worked for King and that King alleged Tercero had stolen from him. Witnesses, however, described a different sequence: they said Tercero arrived earlier, spoke with two women who were a relative and a friend of King, got into a vehicle with them, and as the car began to leave King confronted the vehicle at gunpoint. Witnesses said Tercero pleaded and was shot while still in the back seat area.
After consulting the District Attorney, deputies charged King with first degree murder; he was arrested, booked into the Bradley County Jail, and assigned a $100,000 bond at his first court appearance. Does anyone have information about the events that led up to that confrontation?
