Serdarin Brown was 22 when he was shot and killed in Clarksville, Tennessee, on the night of Sunday, October 27, 2019. Police responded to reports of gunfire near Hand Village Avenue; Brown had been driven to Tennova Healthcare and was pronounced dead there. Spent shell casings were found in a parking lot near the Austin Peay State University campus.

Investigators determined Brown had been involved in a drug transaction. A witness said Brown had arranged to sell a small quantity of marijuana. Two men from Memphis who were visiting friends approached his vehicle; a 17-year-old allegedly drew a handgun at the driver’s door and demanded Brown’s belongings while Joshua Watkins reportedly searched the passenger side. Brown was shot during that encounter.

Clarksville Police identified Watkins and the juvenile as suspects and arrested both at an apartment on Nolen Road. Watkins was charged with criminal homicide and held without bond; the juvenile was charged with criminal homicide and taken to a juvenile facility. In October 2024 a third suspect, Turnity Rossell, was arrested in Memphis after a June 2024 warrant for first-degree murder and aggravated robbery linked him to Brown’s death.
