On September 23, 2019 the body of 38-year-old James Pocket Ledford, a White/Caucasian man, was found in a wooden chest in the back of a pickup truck at Fort Hill Cemetery in Cleveland, Tennessee. Authorities determined he had been fatally shot in the chest, a wound described as indicating a targeted act rather than a random incident.

Investigators linked the killing to two men, Christopher Mardrie Roberson and Alfonzo Montell Johnson. The death was reportedly tied to Roberson’s anger over a stolen motorcycle; he had allegedly threatened to kill whoever was responsible. The probe also connected Ledford’s death to the subsequent death of Jaclyn Carroll.

By October 2019 both Roberson and Johnson were charged in the homicides. Roberson was located in Chattanooga and returned to Cleveland; Johnson was already in custody on an unrelated matter when the charges were filed. If anyone knew Ledford, his movements before September 23, or saw a pickup truck at Fort Hill Cemetery that day, please come forward with information.
