On January 5, 2019, 24-year-old D’Andre Holmes was fatally shot outside the Magnolia Landing Court Apartments in Jackson, Tennessee. Surveillance footage shows a maroon Crown Victoria drive by, a passenger exit the vehicle and shoot Holmes multiple times while he lay on the ground, then the car fleeing the scene.

Five days after the shooting, two Jackson residents, Elijah Garrison, 25, and Tierra Wilson, 24, were arrested in Knoxville by the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Task Force. Garrison was charged with first-degree murder and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon; Wilson was initially charged with first-degree murder but those charges were later dropped for insufficient evidence. Garrison was held without bond in the Madison County Jail pending court proceedings and was convicted of first-degree murder for Holmes’s death.
