A late-summer dispute in Lebanon, Tennessee, ended with two men dead after an exchange of gunfire. Richard David Harris, 52, was shot in the abdomen and died on September 17, 2018, around 7:15 p.m. The confrontation occurred in the back of a trailer park on Bartons Creek Road in Wilson County.
Also killed was 73-year-old Freeman Fisher Coles, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Investigators described the incident as mutual combat and concluded both men shot each other; no other individuals were involved. Authorities announced there would be no arrests and the case was closed with the deaths attributed to the altercation between the two men.
Harris was a member of the Gladeville Methodist Church and is survived by his wife, Sheila Harris, and a son, Richard Nathan Harris. Did anyone in the Lebanon area witness the events that night or know more about the dispute that led to this outcome?
