Two 18-year-olds were killed in a shooting in a field in Covington, Tennessee, on September 11, 2018. Deputies from the Tipton County Sheriff’s Office found Christavian Toomes and Isaiah McCrory with apparent gunshot wounds at the intersection of Leighs Chapel Road and Turner Field Road; a third person was wounded and taken to a Memphis hospital.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation assisted with the double-homicide probe. Authorities later arrested Jarvis Tyleye Grant on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Tampering with or Fabricating Evidence, and said Grant had been present at the scene. Officials described the investigation as active and did not publicly release a motive.
